Chicks were made, fun was had.

This one was unaware of the chicks altogether but

Gearing Up

So I am gearing up for conference weekend. Trying to get in the right frame of mind so that I can absorb all that I need to.  A friend emailed this to me about Elder Uchtdorf’s talk earlier this year to the Relief Society.  I must say I think this is my most most favorite talk of all time so far, it ranks up there with Elder Ballards talk on supporting women a few conferences ago.  Remember that one? Of course you do ladies…. (we all are still quoting it to are husbands aren’t we?)

Still this one was on my mind for months after I heard it.  I felt like it was written just for me.
Our need to create is explained, validated. Have a listen.

I saw this commercial and thought it might be joke, similar to the snuggie commercial.  Then I thought this maybe quite popular around these parts. Layton might be their #2 demographic, second of course to Draper.  If you roll like that, no offense. I’m just glad I can watch.

Abram’s room is finally, mostly, done.

Special thanks to target, ikea, & many other (as Kath & Kim would say) “high end” stores.

Me: No, you just had one.
Es: If I have one then I will go to time out?
Me: Yes.
Es: pause……… OK, I guess I will go have this sucker on the couch and then go to time out.
(i know, i know the typical child/parent blog convo, but i just had to remember this)

BEHOLD, the EGG

Josh & I received this very special memento as a beloved wedding gift, from a DEAR friend (who will remain nameless) of my folks.  Have I mentioned how many times we have moved?

Last count 8…….

Every time I had to pack & begin wrapping up my most precious possessions I would always run into the “EGG”.
And every time the same thoughts would run through my head.  Can I really throw it out? What kind of a person does that make me!  This is it, the move that will damage it beyond salvation. I am sure of it.
Next? A casual toss into a box of randomness, no protective paper, no bubble wrap NOTHIN- JUST NAKED.  It’s bear glass ready to crack, shatter at the slightest jolt, bump or sway.  The “EGG” has traveled thousands of miles through many states, across green rolling hills, to barren desserts to breathtaking coastal beaches.  And with every unpacking my hopes would rise just to be smashed  again.  But not the “EGG” oh no, I would unpack to find that damned egg whole.  Unscathed,  perfect in every way just as new as the first day we got it.
We have been stationary for almost 4 years now & the “EGG” was all but forgotten, buried deep in the crevasses of my pantry.  Until today when I began reorganizing & the “EGG” reappeared in all it’s glory.  Again the thoughts, again the guilt, again it sits untouched. Perfect.
(shout out to my siblings who all have a special “EGG” of their own)
