Creation is a huge part of Emily’s life. The decision to major in art was an easy one, narrowing her focus proved to be the difficult part. Emily has always loved capturing the human form no matter the medium, forms simplified and unique color palettes established themselves early in her aesthetics. She has a unique way of scaling things down to their most simple beautiful form and at the same time conveying an emotion in an incredibly descriptive way. Emily draws upon the human experience for inspiration. Her wish as an artist is to be a force of reflection. Family is central to her, she uniquely captures those moments of connection that secure our bonds to one another and keep us moving forward. “It’s those simple in-between moments of daily life that interest me, I don’t think we are aware of it but I feel that is where life really is happening.”
Emily grew up in Salt Lake City, UT and received her BFA from The University of Utah in 2004 with an emphasis in painting / drawing. Emily has lived in both Tulsa, Oklahoma and Malibu, California. She now lives and works in Kaysville, Utah with her husband Joshua and 3 small children.
